The Mission of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church is “Equipping the Saints . . . To do the Will of God”

Our Vision

The Vision of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church is to be . . .

  • A Temple of the Living God,
  • A City Without Walls,
  • Filled with the Glory of God,
  • Built with Living Stones,
  • Reflecting Living Faith.
  • One Body, Doing the Will of God by
  • Providing Christian Care,
  • Teaching and Making Disciples,
  • Serving Through Selfless Stewardship,
  • Worshipping and Witnessing in Every Action,
  • Celebrating Our Inheritance as Saints in Christ

What do we believe about the Bible?

  • The Bible is God’s inspired word.
  • We need to read, study, and hear God’s word throughout our lives.
  • We need help to interpret and understand God’s word. “For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them,” Matthew 18:20 (NIV).

What do we believe about God?

  • God is the one and only God; God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
  • God is the creator and giver of life.
  • God saves us through His gift of grace.

What do we believe about Jesus?

  • Jesus is God’s only Son.
  • Jesus died for us. He is our Savior.
  • Jesus became one of us and was fully human.
  • Jesus is risen. He rose from the dead.

What do we believe about the Holy Spirit?

  • The Spirit is always present with us.
  • The Spirit is Christ’s gift to us.
  • The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Christ, the Spirit of God among us.

What we believe about the church?

  • The church is to make disciples.
  • The church is to teach love, forgiveness and acceptance.
  • The church is to be the body of Christ in the world and in the lives of others.
  • The church is to proclaim the Good News of the Kingdom.
  • The church is to worship, serve and celebrate what God has done for us in Christ Jesus.
  • The church is to hear and study God’s Word.

Our Core Values

As a congregation of disciples we need to know what we value, and those values become the benchmark to which we hold one another accountable. A statement of values becomes a guide to the development of positive and healthy attitudes and behaviors. They help us commit to a common way to live together.

  • We value a diverse style of worship and music that includes traditional and contemporary.
  • We value our relationship with God and with each other. We value the Great Commandment: “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength, and you shall love your neighbor as yourself.” We value being there for each other, serving, caring and supporting.
  • We value an enthusiasm for life-long learning for all disciples.
  • We value people of all ages.
  • We value mission out-reach to others in the name of Jesus meeting physical and spiritual needs.
  • We value our traditions while being open to where God in Christ Jesus through the Spirit is leading us.

We Believe

  • We are saved by the grace of God alone — not by anything we do;
  • Our salvation is through faith alone — we only need to believe that our sins are forgiven for Christ’s sake, who died to redeem us;
  • The Bible is the only norm of doctrine and life — the only true standard by which teachings and doctrines are to be judged.

We confess the Nicene and Apostles’ Creeds and give thanks for the real presence of Christ in the Lord’s Supper. We believe that Jesus Christ is the Word of God incarnate, through whom everything was made and through whose life, death, and resurrection God fashions a new creation. We believe that the Gospel is the power of God for the salvation of all who believe. We believe that the canonical Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the inspired Word of God and the authoritative source and norm of its proclamation, faith and life. This means that the pattern of Scripture interpretation that we practice seeks to consider carefully the meanings of passages and their form. The time and place in which passages were written are studied to assist in interpretation. We place emphasis on the message of a text in the context of Scripture. To borrow a phrase from Luther, the Bible is “the manger in which the Word of God is laid.”

Lutherans believe that life with God persists even after death. Jesus said, “Those who believe in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die.” (John 11:25-26, NIV). We believe that faith helps you have the ability to focus on what’s really important. Faith is with you every day.
